the roof

Last night a good friend and I decided to climb up on my roof. There has always been an old rickety ladder on my patio, so really it was just an open invitation to browse the world above. (Or maybe it just takes a boy feeling daring and you wanting to be spontaneous so you can be cool, too.) Once we safely and firmly, VERY firmly, planted our buns in a safe position, and discussed our "in case of an emergency" strategies, we got comfy and took in the beauty of a Salt Lake summer night. Which. Is. Amazing. Get on your roof, now.

Maybe it was the adrenaline rush and my endless thoughts of how, if I stumbled, I would just tuck and roll, and do a somersault down on the grass, injury free (which was crushed by being told if I fell I would probably "just break a leg.") (ps. I have been there... You don't "just" break a leg. You can "just" scrape your knee, or "just" get a bruise, but you don't "just" break your leg. Cool? Cool.), but it was a night that I much needed.

New scenery, fresh air, good friend, no deaths, great convo (you know, the convos where you think to yourself- "yikes, I just told you a lot more than I intended"). The only thing that would have made it better would have been a flawless execution of the injury free somersault. I'll do it next time. When there is a camera around to put it on instagram. Oh, and maybe a diet coke.

Time to install a cup holder on the roof. Brilliant.
Are you allowed to say it is brilliant if it is your idea? Is that egotistical?
Because I just did it, and I really liked it.
